How do I clean a home with a smoker in it?

How do I clean glass and furniture (wood and cloth) with a smoker in the home? I burn candles and clean often, but of course the home still smells. Is there something that someone has done that seems to be more effective than general cleaning? Any great tips would be appreciated!

I live in a house with smoke as well but we have 4 smokers in this house! It drives me nuts i never wanted people to smoke in here but i had no say. This is very hard to do. The walls will turn yellow. You might not notice but take down something that's been up awhile. Everything will smell like smoke. vinegar is your friend!! Use white vinegar in everything you wash even clothes. Put about a cup in with your wash along with your soap. Wash down your walls. Replace or take down blinds [if you use] and scrub them down. You will need to have your carpet cleaned with a good cleaner or if u can afford it call someone to come do it. Make sure ash trays r emptied. Even have the sofas steamed cleaned. I am not sure out to get the smell out of wood. The wood would seek in that smell.

This is a lot of work it would be much easier if the smoker smoked outside.

It really depends though on what he's smoking, how much he smokes, and where he does it. Does he smoke everywhere?? Is it chain smoking. Is it cigs, cigars or a pipe?? That will affect how well these methods work.

I find that keeping the windows open whenever I can helps a lot. There are smokers candles that actually neutralize the odor, but they are kind of expensive and don't burn well. Plus candles just add to the soot in the air. The Arm and Hammer carpet Fresheners seem to work really well. They also make a cat box deodorizer that I often use on the carpets too.

And just use Febreeze on the fabrics.

If that still doesn't work, then it's time to ask Hubby to go out on the porch.

Insist that the smoker smoke outside. Just imagine what that stuff on the windows, walls & curtains look like inside your lungs as a 2nd hand smoker. You'll actually need to wash walls. Your carpets will need to be cleaned with a carpet cleaner. Launder every fabric possible and get a product meant to wet-clean your furniture. Cleaning windows & furniture and burning candles just won't do the job as you already know. And when you've done all of that do you really want the smoker make you do it all over again.

You clean everything the same way as usual but you might be cleaning things more often. Vinegar can be very effective to wipe surfaces with. If you want something to deodorize with, you might consider a Lampe Berger. They're not cheap to buy or operate but they work. And once you're in heating season, I think it helps to change the furnace filter fairly often.

hello,

my mom is a smoker too she smoke any where in the house, but our hose doesnt have any smell at all of cgaritte, first thing u must did is to open all the windows and if you have curtain dont let it scattered in the window pull it to a side and put a tie on it.then the air will free come and go,to clean your window used a cleaner with scent, and even for the wood. give him an ashtry where he can put all the ashes and throw every day.you should clean everyday. and make 2 to 3 times perday using a wet map with soap for the floor and wet rug for the furniture and windows.make sure also that the rug and the map u used is slso clean.rinse it well.

There are products that you can buy to get rid of stale cigarette smoke and ordors.

Argo sportsman tobacco candles.

Smoker eliminators.

Chemical sponges for cleaning smoke residue of windows etc.
