How can I find a home for 2 old dogs that have to stay together?

My father-in-law is going into a nursing home in Boston. His daughter has to do something with his 8 and 10 year old small dogs. Boston has no pet classifieds in the paper. How would she advertise, or otherwise try to find a home for these old dogs? He needs to know they are being cared for. She has 3 large dogs and a baby on the way so they can't stay with her or any other relatives.

Could she print out fliers, pass them around and interview people the best way she can to try and make sure they find a good home and stay together?

What a sad situation. :(

Either way, the dogs need to be taken care of so she may just have to surrender them to the humane society and hope they stay together.

Advertise at the local vet

They usually have bullitin boards to post on.

Try and find someone else in the family, someone might want to take care of them.

Please try and keep them together, they will be having many adjustments with losing their master and moving from there home. Losing each other will make it far worse, they will be each others comfort.

Oh poor babies my heart goes out to them. Contact local rescues they maybe able to help with the advertisement on their sites. They also may be able to find a Foster Home for them till a permanent situation occurs. If you and your family are willing to support the cost of the Fostering of the dogs money wise I am sure they would be more than happy to help. There are alot out there that are not breed specific.

Put up signs! tell how nice and good and well trained they are, tell them they already have collars leashes dog bowls beds toys everything! and ask people at you church, school, work, wherever else you go for social time
