Corydalis. There is a blend you can find online...just type it in your google bar. It is a blend of Corydalis and other herbs, like willow bark. Corydallis is in the papaver somniferum family (opium poppy) and is excellent for lower back pain. It is about 40 percent of the effectiveness of morphine in certain dosages. Or you can order poppy pods off of ebay and make poppy pod tea.
Cryotherapy (ice) is the treatment of choice for temporary relief of pain. If you do not have an ice-pack you can use a large bag of frozen peas or corn.
Place the "ice-pack" in a thin pillowcase (one layer of the pillow case between you and the ice-pack) and then place your ice-pack directly over the area of pain for 20 minutes. You will go through various phases of pins/needles, burning, stinging, etc. followed by numbness if you are doing it correctly. Do not exceed 20 minutes at a time. Allow about 1 hour between applications for return of healing blood flow (if you get your skin too cold for too long you can induce frost-bite).
As soon as possible it would be wise to have a thorough evaluation by your family Chiropractor to determine the CAUSE of your pain.
Best wishes and good luck.
Ice is a natural pain reliever. You can also stand under a hot shower directed on your back and stretch your back by putting your hands together in front of you raising your arms together then rounding your shoulders and bending over to stretch out that muscle.
I like OLBAS oil as a rub for aches and pains. Gentle stretching exercises and hot compresses work well too. You can make a great hot pack by just putting some long cooking rice or flax seeds into a cotton tube sock-sew up the end, and heat it in your microwave in 30 second increments until its as hot as is comfortable for you. I use them all the time and they work wonders! Feel better soon!
