I need information on where a homeowner might find original blueprints of their house. I had once heard these were on file at city hall, but now I wonder if my source knew what they were talking about. It makes sense that city hall would have a copy because we have to get permits before modifying our home. How would anyone know if it had or hadn't been modified if there weren't original prints on file.
Contrary to what you see in the movies, most places aren't going to have blueprints on file and certainly not on older homes.
Yes. The building department will have a file on your address. It should contain the original permit and a record of any permitted work done since original construction
sure , but not all city keeps those records before say 1966
maybe the local library mite have them
