Any home remedy to an ear infections that someone might recommend?

Every 6 months or so I get an ear infection and I can't keep going to the doctor as I don't have health insurance. This started happening after moving to a different climate and until I am able to move somewhere else I need some home remedies to help me get rid of ear infections when they pop up. PLEASE help me with this as it is getting very old to have to go to the doctor for such a thing every 6 months. Thanks a lot!

I hate ear infections! There are a few things you can do. Preventative measures: Definitely try to take allergy meds daily if you can; Over the counter Claritin (loratadine) is probably the most inexpensive.

Using a hot water bottle and hydrogen peroxide inside the ear canal, held in by a cotton ball is supposed to be good.

As gross as it is, you can let the infection heal on it's own but I don't think I could.

If you qualify for low cost insurance or can locate a free/reduced clinic, look into getting tubes put it. That should end the infections. Good Luck.

There is a homeopathic product called Murine. You can get it from any drug store. It works wonders! I had a really bad one once, intense pain and I could hardly hear anything...this cleared it right up and I haven't had once since. Also, since it's homeopathic, the possibility of side effects are very low. If you can't find it at a local drug store, try a whole foods store or vitamin store like Vitamin Shoppe, although it will be more expensive there.

My sons Dr. told me to heat up Olive oil or sweet oil as warm as you can stand.put a few drops in the infected ear.Cover with a Cotton ball and sleep on that side.It seams to work for him.

Dip a q-tip in home based hydrogen peroxide. not the stuff for hair! First aid peroxide. and your ears will bubble and let them drain. Just let a little trickle in the ear and do not push anything in them!
